in saying that I know all the parties in around and about that place that should be watched.

I would at the same time ask the power to receive into the Company as many as would make its number up to one Hundred and fifty— I obligateing myself to receive no man that is in any way liable to Conscription in Confederate service. I am and have been a Com-missioned Officer in the 14" Miss. Regt since Jany 10 1862 & was one among the first troops that landed at Pensacola— If necessary I can and will give the best of references for both my Civil and Military bearing— If you grant my request, I will certainly try not to abuse the privilege, but strive to do the duties of a Soldier and render my services valuable to the cause for which we are battling.
