Had just started to go to bed when they came after me to go on guard at Clechy. I told them to go to thunder, but when I heard that George Young was slated to go on guard and they were only looking for someone to take his place so that he could go out to a Christmas dinner I thought that I had might as well make a regular Christmas Day while I was about it so I went

a mistake and gave me tripple sec instead of water to put in red wine and citron. I drank enough of the stuff to give five ordinary me the D.T's. When I discovered what had happened I was afraid that I might pass out, but I stood my liquor like an old hand. At 9 P.M. George Young took us new M.P's. on the rounds of the out of "bounds houses".

Tuesday May 21 '18.

I had the roming guard shift from 8:30 until 12:45. My first experience as an M.P. -- Our baggage is lost and the railroad officials have been unable to locate it. -- Shot on the rifle range this P.M. and it was as hot as sin.

Wednesday May 22 '18.

On duty from 8:30 until 12:45 in the M.P. office. Got orders for all the cadets to be ready to leave for flying school. Got permission along with fifteen other cadets to go to Niort. The truck broke down eight Km. from town and we had to walk in. Had a fine time with Charlie Grant visiting some of his French friends. Came home on the train.

Went on patrol with Grady
