to be in quarantine, and to take my bedding etc. up to the top floor. I guess that Perry Patton and I have been having a too good a time. Since I last wrote I have been to the Grand Oppera, Follies, and Olimpia, without mentioning the smaller shows.

Have been jammed up in this foul hole for three days now with fourty two other men. All of us in seven small rooms, with coal oil stoves for heat. The ground is covered with about ten inches of snow.

range in the afternoon. Shot on the wrong target. -- A fierce thunder and rain storm in the evening. Got soaked while on our way to the night classes.

Wednesday May 8 '18. Didn't go on the range this afternoon because of rain. Answered Hazel's letter in school this evening. The letter in answer to my May 1st letter.

Thursday May 9, '18. Went on the range in the afternoon. Won second money, 15 francs, and 32 fr. from Perry Patton on a side bet at a 1/2 fr. a point. Herb and I had dinner with Claire Larey at the Artillery School.

at eight. Got my first pay check as an officer. Pay from June 11th to June 30th $97.19 or 553.97 francs. Went down town with Perry Patton and All Cree. Had a fairly good time. Got home at 11:30 P.M. Walked.

Monday July 1st '18. Had a terrible time in the air today. On my first trip the buss had the best of me. It was blowing a gale, and I couldn't keep from drifting and banking too steaply. Bauer kept bawling me out, and wanted to know what had gone wrong with me.

and digusted this morning after hearing the news that hereafter everybody in leaving will go direct to Issoudun without the usual three days leave. I have been looking forward to these three days ever since I landed here. Went with Perry Patton from Brain with a load of stuff to Chasseney. Got balled out by Paul for going so fast. Saw acres and acres of amunition ready to rush to the batteries when the big offensive starts. Gave Perry the ride of his life while coming home. Made him climb out of his seat twice.
