Fox & Foster also missed the train because Fox had lost his pocket-book along with his passport. They followed on the night train.

We got in a car with some Canadian soldiers and road all day with them to Lyons. Had quite a party on the train with them. Stayed at the Hotel Bordeaux in Lyons.

Saturday. August 4, '17.

Left Lyons on the seven o'clock train on our way to Annecy. Met a friend on the train who recommended Aix les Bains for a place to have a good time, We found Krusi, Lane, & McKinley. We all got off at Aix les Bains. Went to the Terminal Hotel & left our baggage. Went swimming in the lake and then returned to the hotel where a fine dinner was waiting for us. After dinner wandered around the town. Bought pipe. Went for an auto drive. Went swimming in the bathes.

her apartments and laid on her bed all afternoon. Late in the afternoon Miss Gordon & Mrs. Wood & I went for a drive up into the mountains to a very stilish home. Came back & had dinner with them. Went to their apartments before they finished dinner as I was feeling low. Miss Gordon took me to the 10:40 train to Annecy. Krusi & Dick met the train and took me to their hotel.

Wednesday August 8, '17.

Left Annecy on the 7:30 train for Chomeaux. Very beautiful ride through the mountains to Chomeaux. Arrived 12:30. Went to the Hotel des Alpes. Slept in the afternoon. In the evening met Fox & Foster and some girls and went to a cafe. Saw Count De' Gare there. He invited us to have cocktails with him the next noon.

Thursday August 9, '17.

Got up late. Had cocktails with the Count. Rained all afternoon. Wrote cards.

Had breakfast in my room. Got reserved seats for the afternoon train to Paris. Went up to the
