one glove, and cleared them a little with my hand. I couldn't get ahold of them to pull them off because of my helment. By that time I knew that I was right on the ground, but could only see a hazy outline of it, so I redressed and landed the best I could. It was a poor landing but I didn't break anything. The engine would only turn over 700, and would hardly taxi across the field to the hanger. This time the magneto had gone bad. I waited until 6:30 P.M. when Larrie Higgins got back from his voyage and I took his machine and had a fine trip. I flew at 1800 meters from Pontlevoy to Tours. Got back at 9 P.M. after stopping 20 minutes at Salome and 15 at Pontlevoy. Larrie Laurence got lost this afternoon and landed 60 Kms. north west of Tours. I had no trouble at all in finding my way.

so that Mr. Sheets would have time to get out from Issoudun. Harry Webb went down to meet him in the Y.M. Ford. The Ford broke down but they got out O.K. anyway. Everything went off smoothly at the funeral, but it was an ordeal that I hope that I will never have to go through again.

Sunday Sept. 1, 1918.

Got a pass for Limoges. All Cree, Lare Lawrence, Herb. Kendall, and Brownie and I started out. We had a nice trip down, and two good meals.

Monday Sept. 2, 18.

Didn't get up until 10:30. The train left at 12:14 so didn't see much of the town. Got home at 6 P.M. dead tired physically, but mentaly much rested.

Tuesday Sept 3, 18.

Went on my cross country trips this morning. Enjoyed them emensly. Had no trouble. I was the only one of five fellows to go this morning that didn't break something in landing. I first went to Romarantin and back, then to Pontlevoy and back. Both trips took about two hours. I didn't fly this afternoon as my stomach is on the bum. I started to feel sick to my stomach [deleted]when[deleted] while I was coming back from Pontlevoy. I flew over
