Application of L. M. Garrison for position of Port Worker read and ref to the Mayor.

Application of J. F. Hughes for position of Janitor read and ref to Select Committee Messers Korn and Wilcox.

Remonstrances

Remonstrance of C. D. Livermore et. al. against granting petition of J. L. Taylor for Cable across Rainer St read and ref to the Street Committee.

C. J. R. No. 1 By Miller read 3rd time and laid on the table.

Report of Committee appointed and rules and order business called for: The Chair man of the Committee submitted a report entitled "Rules and Orders of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Seattle." The document was ordered read by the Prest. After the reading Snyder moved to adopt. Second by Miller. Motion lost.

Motion to amend by Korn to have rules read by Sections and acted on separately. [Mohican?] provided.

Motion by Bogardus to strike out all the words in Section 15 after the word "President." Carried

Motion to strike out all of Section No. 42. Carried

Miller Moore to adopt rules as amended. Carried.

And now appears before the bar the clerk from the H of D and says that the H of D had taken a recess until Wednesday Eve at 7:30 from Oct 22 1890 to meet at the new City Fire Hall.

Motion by Miller to have the City Clerk furnish a copy of the present City Ordinances and bring them into the Council Chamber = Motion withdrawn.

Moved by Miller that a Committee of 3 be appointed on Salaries = Carried.

The Chair appointed Miller Bogardus & Pontius.

9 Board of Aldermen of the City of Seattle Oct 17 1890

The President called the attention of the B of A to the engrossing of the Charter and to the appointing of a Committee to compare same with original: No action.

Moved by Bogardus & 2d by Holbrook that the matter of the Rhinehart Corner be made a special order of businesss at the next meeting. Carried.

Snyder reports as Chairman of the Committee appointed as furnishing the New Offices that all that could be was being done: That most of the furniture had been ordered from that East and it would probably be weeks before it arrive.

Com: from Hoft saying a Committee of 2 had been appointed as Janitor Com from the House: Report accepted & placed on file and a like Com. consisting of Korn & Wilcox be appointed by the B of A to confer with them.

Application of E. Robinson for the position of Janitor Read and Ref to Janitor Com.

Recess taken until Wednesday Eve Oct 22 1890 at 3 pm at the New City Hall

Be it remembered that on this the 22nd day of October A.D. 1890. The Board of Aldermen of the City of Seattle meets pursuant to adjournment and after recess in the New City Hall in the Butler Block.

The following members are present.

Prest Geo W. Hall in the Chair.

At roll call the following members answered to their names

Bogardus, Holbrook, Korn, Miller, Pontius Snyder, Wald, Wilcox and Mr. President.

The following proceedings are had: Journal of previous meeting and approved.

Petitions

Petitions for retail liquor licenses were read from the following named persons Korthern and Weberputz. J. Conrad Devet and Salvey, Clancey & Burns Sothe and Drumm Noel Bengley Fortlomi & Levy Fred Beuse Pearson and Brand Pinkham & Coyle L. Chopard Gumbert & Leibman. Said petitions were read and ref to Com on L & R.

Petition of H. Lapworth for an outlet to his property lot 3 & 4 blk 41 10th & Stewart St. Read and ref to Street Com.

Petition of J. B. Denney for Sewer Harrison St from Oak to the Bay. Read and ref to Com on Sewers and Drains.

Petition from G. C. Phinney - that the present Janitor of the Butler Blk be appointed Janitor of the New City Offices. Read and ref to the Spec Com on Janitor.

13 Board of Aldermen of the City of Seattle

B of A Bill No. 1 An Ordinance pertaining to the rights and duties of the Corporation Council under the City Charter adopted Oct. 1st 1890 & fixing the salary of our Asst. Read third time and ref back to the Judiciary Committee.

B of A Bill No. 3 An Ordinance to provide for the employment of a Janitor for the City Council and to perscribe the duties of the office and fixing the salary: Sec. No. 1 was amended so as to read Board of Aldermen and House of Delegate instead of Board of Public Works— passed by vote in favor Bogardus Holbrook Korn Pontius Snyder Ward Wilcox. Mr. President — voted against. Third reading.

B of A Bill No. 2 Ordinance to perscribe the duties of the Fire Com's and to more fully organize the fire dept. Read 3rd time and passed by full vote.

The following Communication was sent to the H of D. Gentlemen: B of A Bill No. 2 & No. 3 passed B of A Oct 22/90. B of A are now ready to meet H of D in joint session to hear & receive the Mayor's Message — H. E. O. Miller Clk Geo W. Hall Prst.
