In the evening Mr. & Mrs. Chapman & Morris[written below] Capt. & Mrs. Eales came of & 150 Natives as we are to start for Chittagong at daylight tomorrow.

Sunday Nov 21st. 1858

Left Akyab at 5.40 this morning for Chittagong. With a fine breeze the weather beautifully cool. went on deck at 5.45. 10 oclock passed oyster island. beautiful clear moonlit night went along about 10 miles distant from land. remained on the bridge with Bowen & O'Shanntsky[?] till 9 oclock. went to bed at 9.30. roused up right 11.30 to See Edith. have today read 2 chapters of Exodus the plagues of the Egyptians, & some home letters, Jessies Marys & Willies of June July & August.

Monday Nov. 22nd. 1858

Up at 5.30. went on the Bridge till 6.20. Still moving along in our course to Chittagong an appearance

picked up the Schooner. Well on for Kyouk Phyoo with the Comr. & Mrs Verner on bd. Dr. & Mrs. Pettingal passengers with us. Dr. going to relieve Jones at Sandoway Mrs Eales & Edith with [?] ([up arrow]3 ocl)

Friday Decr. 31st. 1858

Called at Ripley's with Bowen & Dibbs last night asked to dinner today and tomorrow. Sat reading High lands & Islands of Scotland all day Ripley & Evans came on bd. went up & dined with Ripley. Met Ripley Evans Johnson Frenchman Young Morris Cassagne had a good dinner Sat Singing verse all round brought in the New Year 3 Cheers at 12 ocl. Sang Auld Lang Syne & drank to the health of Absent friends went om bd. with Bowen & Cassiagni about 1 ocl.

man up to the Kaea at the entrance. returned on bd. & had a dispute about the word at motion turning.

Tuesday Jany. 11th. 1859

Capt. Mrs. Eales & Edith went up to Sandoway this mg. to take up quarters on shore while the ship was being painted. reading the Pacha of Many Tales today. the poney promised by Henricks has come down & is on shore beside the Creek for me. Bowen & Dibbs went ashore shooting. I went ashore at 5 & rode about 2 miles in the direction of Sandoway, through paddy fields Saw the Cutter Coming from Sandoway from which place it had been with the Captain. returned at dusk to the Creek & went on bd. in the PB. boat told the Sigee through the boat & wallah to come in the mg. at 5.30

Monday Jany. 17th. 1859

Up at 7 this morning could not go out for a ride owing to the pony having been sent to Sandoway. remained on bd. all day. Cassiagni & the Gunner went out in the jolly boat through the Creek to Singh Gong. had a note from Mrs. E say Edith & Mrs. E had had fever. Went up after dinner in the Cutter the 2 Master 2 Engineer Clerks Nephew & Clerk. Called at the Capts. returned from Sandoway at 9 on bd. at 1/2 past 10. Gun room painted slept in the after cabin

Tuesday Jany. 18th. 1859

Up about 7. Poney has not come 1/2 past 7 Capt. came down on my poney on bd. asked for 24hs. advance from Contingent. (Scruffy.[?]) Henricks came on bd. after breakfast re- mained to dinner Bowen Cassiagni Henricks & I went up to Sandoway
