To his (Hon?) the Mayor and the Common Council of the City of Seattle:

Gentelmen:

We the Undersigned

Would respecfully (request?): that the private (Sewers?) of property Owners on the East Side of Fifth Street between Cherry Street and James Streets Empty on said Fifth Street thereby creating an offensive pool, which can be (remedied?) only by Your Hon.. body causing the main Sewer (now? begun?) on said streets to be continued to said Cherry Street, wherefor your petitioners pray that your Hon body Cause said Sewer to be finished from the end therof on said Fifth Street to said Cherry Street, and (your?) Petitioners will (ever?) Pray (etc?);

To the Honorable Board of Aldermen Gentlemen, Your petitioner would most respecfully petition your honorable Body to grant him the privilage of lowering the floor in the Building located on Lot 4 Block 3, Denny's First Addtition, located on East side Second Street and one Store south of Cherry Street. The floor is about 18 inches above the level of sidewalk, and in its present condition your petitioner finds it very inconvenient and detrimental to his business. Hoping your honorable body will kindly grant the request for which your petitioner will ever pray.

From Streets recommending the granting of the petition of Geo D Hill et al for Improving Spring Street, Adopted & Atty instructed to submit an ordinance therefor From Judiciary & Legislative approving Attys report Adopted From Streets recommending the grading of James, Cherry & Columbia Streets from Front to the Alley between Front & 2d Streets. Adopted & Atty instructed to submit an Ordinance therefor From Streets recommending the grading of James Street on the petition of Henrietta M Halber et al therefor. Adopted & atty instructed to submit an Ordinance therefor. From Streets recommending the rejection of the petition of Geo D Hill et al for Imrpoving 5th street. Adopted & petition denied From Streets recommending the payment of certain bills for hauling gravel. Rejected Bids Received And now the Council proceeds to open & consider the bids for the side walk to be constructed on Marion Street under Ordinance No 364, which bids are as follows to wit: S F Hoole per M B M [thousand board feet] $17.00 S G Simpson $16.20
