Dear Ed:

So you are finally a full fledged M.D. and I may add a "good one" too! I am not so enthused over the briliant book-worm type of professional man who forgets as fast as he learns. But assimilation seems to me to be the great thing in one's education. And he who grows old gracefully has the best chance to achieve most. Well, Ed, I wish I could shake your hand and congratulate you! Surely, Betty is a fortunate girl! I just bet she will be sore at me.

Your letter arrived while I was en route to Denver, returning via the Northwest. My wife forwarded it to me

but it only trailed along behind as I left Denver two days earlier like a good husband should do. Your letter, in the first place was addressed to me c/o Dr. Geo. C. Thompson "Foot" of St. Charles St., Alameda. Now Eddie, "Foot of St. Charles St." is some definite place to catch me I have not been "thar" since "Hek" was pup. So please put down in your chief[underlined] address book the address above as yours truly may be a long-time resident there & would like to keep in touch with C.E.H. B__M.D.

Well, I have not been informed as yet when to report to New York. The majority of western buyers go East the latter part of July until first of August. So I suppose I will be there the last of July.
