On Saturday we got your cards from Marseilles & today a letter came dated Jan 24th from the [musilat?] Coblenz along with cards from Coblenz (pictures of the town colored very [underlined] pretty). We had had Currie ones or rather "would be" Curries last week that you sent Father & a card from Dassel telling etc etc & we enjoy them all very much. You can imagine how glad we are that you are having this holiday Dear — you richly deserve

My dear old Sned:

I have not written you for a month, and that last letter was written at home while I was laid up there with the "flu." Thank God we are all well at home and Jos has gone back to U. C. to finish his agricultureal course. Lesley is teaching in the University High in Oakland. I was very sorry to hear of your being in hospital with jaundice but from your later letters, you were doing well, and were hoping to get sick leave to Nice. You must have gotten that leave, because Sat night we received a lot of postals from you from Marseilles, and in one you said you had missed the train for Nice, so would have to stay over two hours longer at Marseilles.

We are all delighted at your having received your citation and shall be glad to see it. I hope the medals will follow because you deserve them. We had a very anxious time over Jos but thank God, he pulled through and seems no worse. It was a very expensive illness for me as he was ill in the Alexandria hotel and could not be moved. He was there 3 weeks, Mother was with him 2 weeks and I was there 5 days. I have not got the doctors bill yet, but the total expenses will be at least $550.00, so you

Wonder if you really sailed yesterday. I was glad to glad [sic] your letter Saturday and almost sent you a wire. But kept forgetting it except when far from any postes or telegraph. Because we got our movement orders Saturday and came down to Le Mans yesterday. So if you go to Marseilles on leave, stop off at Le Mans and not Paris. We will probably even get to Brest later but that won't be till after you're gone I guess. Expect to be in this district till June first. Headquarters probably always being Le
