From: 1st Lt. C. E. H. Bates, Regimental Finance Officer To: Capt. Charles R. Myers, Adjutant, 126th Inf.

Subject: Report on money exchange.

1. Received from companies of this Regiment the sum of Seven Hundred Forty-seven thousand, Eight hundred Twenty-nine francs (747,829.47) and Forty-seven centimes plus Four Hundred and Four Francs (404.) in bad money, for which I received in exchange One Hundred Twenty-eight thousand Nine Hundred Thirty-three dollars and Eighty-seven cents (128,933.87) dollars)

2. I hold receipt from all of the companies of this Regiment for the sum of Six Hundred and Ninety-one thousand Four Hundred and Eighteen francs and Eighty-two centimes (691,418.82 francs) Also I paid out to the companies equal of this amount in American money which equalled One Hundred Twenty-eight thousand Eight Hundred and Ninety-one dollars and Seventy-four cents (128,891.74 dollars) and hold receipts for that amount. Therefore, I am surplus $42.02.

3. I was able to cash Three Hundred and Eighty francs (380) of the bad money and exchange that amount into Sixty five dollars and Fifty-one cents (65.51 dollars) This amount plus the $42.02 surplus mentioned in par. 2, plus 24 francs of bad money, equals a total surplus of One Hundred Seven dollars Fifty-three cents (107.53. dollars) plus 24 francs of bad money, which I am turning over to you, to dispose of in the proper manner. I shall personally hold the receipts received from companies.
