My dear Bugler:
Your letter should have been answered a week ago but wasn't, so I shall not try to think up any excuse, than that I have been busy.
Regarding your request. There will be several boys working for their board and I have tried to standardize things a little. I can offer you a dollar a day rebate on your board for bugling or to make the offer conversely, if you bugle you may have the rate of $5 per week. Blowing the bugle at stated intervals is less strenuous

My dear Edward:
I am glad you are coming. Probably I shall see you before [you - crossed out] we leave. I think you will find no difficulty in catching the train if you get every thing ready before [underlined] the 3d and have your trunk sent in the morning. Go home from school, get into some old clothes and make a bee-line for the mole. Also steer Walter Dennison similarly. I have not heard from his father yet but probably shall soon.

Dear Edward:
I am glad you approve of the camp circulars and I wish we were to have your cheerful company again.
I shall be on the lookout for a job for you. You were not explicit as to just what sort of work you were looking for & I suppose you realize that a mountain job means long hours and small pay. Summer resort work never is good pay – at least in the Sierras.
The outing, such as it is, is counted as an emolument I believe.
