Feb. 25, 1913.

Dear Edward:

"Gee, We're having lovely weather," it has been raining steadily since Sunday morning. Of course we had to go to church anyway but on the way home we saw our Flying A friend so it didn't matter.

Saturday we had had another tennis tournament. You know at the one we had last year, I had such a swell partner that we won, but this time I had an awful prune for a partner and we were put out first thing.

We had a swell lunch over at Kaim's though, and I certainly eat. Then instead of waiting for the finals, Ruth Black and I left and went riding. Yes you bet I do still go riding, and the horse is still alive and kicking – Bucking too. You should have seen the one I had Saturday buck. We rode out to the Speedway, which is a stretch of rode [road] about three quarters of a mile long, where people on horseback and driving go to speed,

Oct. 27, 1912.

Dear Edward:

I was very glad to hear from you and really meant to write sooner. I have loads of letters I ought to write all the time but we are busy every minute here.

I like it down here very much and haven't wished myself home once – Santa Barbara isn't a very lively town but we girls have fun just the

that's Jack Austin, and Ned Hencks come up on the car with a few of us –

Yesterday we had a grand ride. We left here early in the afternoon and went out to supper in Montacito [Montecito]and then came back by moonlight. The moon was full so it was fine for riding.

We didn't all stay together but just rode around where we wanted to and

Dec. 8, 1912.

Dear Edward:

You say to head my letters as you head yours but if you mean for me to put, my dear Edward – why I will have you know that that is more formal than simply Dear Edward. Anyway you are not [underlined] my dear Edward.

Phyllis saw the "Kiss Waltz" when she was home at Thanksgiving, and said it was

I suppose you think I'm awful not writing sooner and telling you what I thought of the picture, but I haven't written to hardly anyone because I haven't had time.
