To ripen a sore Brest The cream of new milk manchitt grated very fine the yolk of a new layd egge gilgoby the ground a handful shreed very fine stir them all the while til ther be like cream on the Top of it then spread it and apply it as hott as may be in'dured shifting it 2 times a day when it is broke Tent it

For to disolve a Brest tho never so hard A pint of urin a good handful of marsh mallows if yu cannot git them ordinary malows boyle it till halfe is con sumed then put in as much barlye meal as will make it into a Poltis let it boyle a while then put into it a bitt of Hoggs greace as big as a walnutt take it ofe & put in a sponful of Hony, lay it on as hott as can be suffred let the part take 12 Hoglice brused in white wine 3 sponfuls every morning

A pound of Pitch halfe a pound of Rosin a pece of Deers suit as big as an egge & so much yalow wax seeth them all a little take them ofe & put in 5 sponfuls oof Ague vitte a penny worth of spir macitty then boyle them a little againe & spread it on the rough side of a sheeps skin warme it when you use it it strengthens

The green leaves of Perriwincle quilt them as thick as one will lye by another upon soft brown paper it should Lye on continualy the leaves next it laying on fresh as the leaves dry take drying drinks with Hoghie in them while you use this & sometimes purging

The yolks of 4 new layd eggs the puth of an [oace] Almon beat them thurowly & strain them with a little new cream that is not aboue 8 howers old lay the pith in water to take out he blood & strip it from the skinns put therto nutmeg rose water & suger either make it into pudings or bake it with yin will also eggs potched in water wherin mint has been boyled also the milts of all fresh fish is good for the back if the patient be cold in his back oyl of camomile [cayans] greace & sanders boyle it in a pot in a pot of water anoynt the back Lay it on a blew cloth that is wadded lay it next the skin If they be hott in the back take oyl of roses the seeds of Plantaine & the yongest Plantaine you can gitt & some sanders boyle thes in a [galy] pott in a skillet of water anoynt the back & wear a blew cloth this will cure the back[tho] in a consumption

For any Knob or hardnes in the Brest or milk Guard

A pint of Rope oyle a [qhr] of a pound of white lead beaten very fine & as much red lead beat fine shomakers greac qtr pnd halfe so much virgins wax boyle all thes in the oyle on a soft [hie] take it ofe if it afer to run over let it boyle til it look brown then put in halfe an ounce of camphir cool it in water make it into roles spread it when yu [vre] it on the fleshy side of sheeps leather let it lye til it drop ofe

syrops of comphry for a weak back Dr Willis for one had a sprain in her Back A pound of comphry roots scraped & sliced put them into a gally pot with a pound of hard suger & a half pint of Alagant couer & set in an oven not over hot but as y u would dry pares take of it morning & afternoon & 2 or 3 slices of the comphry

Dr Bates oynment for burnes or scalds {yu need noe other for tis most excellent} Take of the freshest Goos dung half a pound salet oyl halfe a pint Oynment of marsh mallows & oyl of red roses each 2 ounces cam phir a qtr of an ounce snow water 5 or 6 spoonfuls boyle it till all the watry moys ture be consumed then strain it & keep it in a pot anoynt it many times in an hower till the fire is out & it will never scarr if yu takeit at first you need nor other medson

For sharpness of Blood & Bleeding Conserve of hipps as much as a walnutt night & morning & this will be for a lose nes or any thing comes from sharpnes of blood

B:5: A Drink Dr Willis prescrived one that had a sore Brest Agrimony Horehound sanacle mouseare colts foot Bugle Plaintaine tops of cyprus each in i raisins halfe a pound Licorish halfe an ounce boyle thes in 3 qrts of water til a 3d part is wast ed put to it a pint of white wine strain it & whn it is cold Bottle it drink halfe a pint fasting & at 4 in the Afternoon if yu cannot git cyrpus & Horehound use St Johns wort & Tamaris insteed of them

* To make Conserve of Hipps * cut them in halfe & with a pen knife scrape out all the seeds & downe let them lye 2 days couer ed in a erthen bason beat & pulp them throw a Hare seive take the weight of the pulip in suger beat them till they are well mixed take as much as a nuttmeg night & morning

For the Bitting of a mad Dog never failing Leaves of Rue clean picked 6 ounces peeled garlick 4 ounces methridate or London Treacle 4 ounces shaveings of Pewter 4 spoon fuls a pottle of strong Ale a 4d part more a strong Jugg & boyle thes in the Jug (in a kettle of water) close stopt 4 howers on a gentle fire strain it & give 9 spoonfuls 9 days more or lesse according to the age of the person wash the place with some of decoction & lay some of the Dreggs upon it

Likked juie that runns upon the ground & gilgoby ground each 2 handfuls sinkfoyl the same chop all thes smal with a pound of hard Kidney mutton suit stop thes hard into a pipkin let it stand 3 days boyle it very gently putting in 3 sponfuls of snow water boyle it till the Herbs are crisp strain it hard into a pennyworth of salad oyle onoynt it stil as it drys up tel the paine be gone then lay on a rag dipt in to the burne or scald shifting it often

The Haire of the party burnt or the stink of a candle newly put out

A Draught to sweeten the Bloud

9 spoonfuls of milk from the cow 3 of red rose water 3 of succory water 3 of milk water & a little suger candy take this every morning

To stop the bleeding of Leeches

Burne a ragg & lay iy on the Holes

Mr Boyles Balsame of sulphire

Take one part of Flower of Brimstone & five of pure oyl olive mindle thes together well set them on agen the fire in an earthen or a silver pan not very deep but pritty flat & wide let it not boyle but simper & keep it still stiring with a silver or glasse spoon tell such time as the flower of Brimstone by fully melted in your oyl wch when it is it will look very Red then take it ofe the fire & let it stand a while & coole then set it on againe still stiring it tell it be thurowly melted & grown pritty thick like a Balsame or oyntment then keep it close conered for your use this mingled with oyle of Annus of Fennel seeds & fine powder of white suger candy a little taken on the poynt of a knife is an excellent remidy for a cough Alsoe one part of this & 3 parts of oxycrow shom plaster & applyd warme to the Kings evel swelling if not broken will disolve it & the Balsame alone when it is broken if dropt warme into it & some applyd on lint warme to it once or twice a day cures it for ulcers in the Lungues to take the fire out of Burnes the best war for inward takeing it is to make it with oyl of eggs & for outward applications with oyl of St Johns wort

For Bleeding at nose

A sheet of white Paper wett it in vineger & dry it in an oven when it is dry well it againe & dry it as before so doe 3 times then make it into powder & snuff up some of it into the nose oftin as well when it dos not as wen it bleeds

For a Cancer in the Breast A piece of a sheep skin taken off the flank of the sheep lay the skinn side to the breast changing it once in 12 hours & in hot weather once in 6 hours this was used to a woman whose breast was to be cut off & was broke & it kept her very many years without any pain or trouble & at last died of another disease a child knew the woman to whom it was taught by a French man

Another for a Knubb or hardness in a Breast A piece of Brown Paper dip it in Brandy dry it & spread it over with honey Lay it to the breast & in a months time it will disolve if it must be new ones in a day or two

For a Cancer in the Breast A print of chickin broth 12 or 15 crafish alive beat them in a morter & pat some of the broth to them beat them & strain them as you doe Almons to make almon milk beating & straining them til you have all the goodness of the crayfish out drink it every morning a pint

X For a Dropsey D Six Topps of wormwood steep them all night in a quarter of fair water drink of this water next day &an equal quantity of cla ret each wine with your meat & no other drink eats nor milk purg with carcinosinum once or twice a week it must be new every night made

Bleeding at nose Take a Rag & Dipp it in a little water wherin you have desolved a bitt of Roman vittriol warms the Rag & lay it cross the nose without side & let the party for 3 mornings drink 2 spoonfuls of juice of watercresses 2 of Juyce of nettles & 2 of Juyce of lemon

For a cancerous Knobb in a Breast The Brins that is in salt Butter dip a Ragg in it several times in a day & lay to it & have heard of one in whom it desolved the Knobb quite after it had been there many yeares

For the same The warts growing up on Horses Legs made into powder in take as much as will lie on a shilling in a little whitewine morning & night
