the congregation, as resolved at the last meetin of the vestry,
with the result that the congregation referred the whole matter
to the committee on sociability and Entertainment of the
Church Union with power to act. This committee of the Church
Union has taken the following action: They have agreed upon
a lectern for the church as being the most necessary article
of furniture for the chancel, and have sent the Rector and
Capt. John F. Mayer, the treasurer of the Vestry to New York as
a committee to purchase a suitable lectern. This trip was
possible through the generous courtesy of Capt. Mayer agent
of the the Old Dominion Steam Ship Company, to whom our
thanks are due. This committee to purchase lectern,
after diligent attention to the subject, selected the design
of which a photograph is appended, to be delivered in
Richmond June 1st next, in perfect order, engraved
with an appropriate inscription for $350.00.

Your committee asks instructions to night as to the
exact spot in the chancel where this lectern shall be placed.

All of which is respectfully submitted.
