and where the fish-pass has been
built together with the surroundings
of the place is herewith given which
will show at a place [?] the improper
placing of the fish-pass and its present
[impotency?] for the purposes intended.
In explanation of the sketch of
the weir and dam it will be noticed
that the weir is about 300 feet wide
with a long hedge screening it for general
travel about [200?250?] yards above the Bridge
Dennies Dam is built wholly across
the river and about 5 feet high. To the
right of the dam a race-way is built
which carries water to the [Norden?Woolen?] and
[?] Mill below the Bridge the
water after passing through the mill
runs in a small tail-[race?] some
200 feet or more into the main dam.
Whilst the height of the main dam is
about five feet the fall of the water
at the mill is about [two?ten?] feet or three
the height for fish to [ascend?] as would
be the case at the main dam above.
At the fish mill and between it and
an old mill [situate?] almost alongside
the present fish-way has been built
about 3 feet wide inside and some
60 feet in length to overcome the size
of 15 feet [fall?full?] their pass is [?]
