Voted That he be allowed One hundred pounds {Sterling?} pannum as a Missionary at Oneida; and inasmuch as he has at great pains & expences acquired the knowledge of the Indian language so as to carry on the service without the charge of an Interpreter.

Voted That in consideration thereof he be allowed the further Sum of Thirty pounds {Sterling}
pannum: the said allowance to continue until further Order.

Mr Kirkland having brought with him an Indian man called Thomas, a Deacon of the Church; and represented to the Board that he has since January last acted as a Catechist and Schoolmaster among the said Indians, and that he bears an extreme [strike]a[/strike] good character for understanding and Piety.
