also Rev. John Gallagher received ad eundem except in history; and having sustained their University Examination in all these subjects resolved to confer and hereby do confer upon each and all of the above named gentlemen the degree of Bachelor of Arts.

The Senate having found that George Macdonald and George Ritchie had obtained first class honours in logic, metaphysics, and ethics, and in rhetoric and English Literature, and that George Macdonald had obtained second class honours and George Ritchie second class honours in classics and that they had thus fufilled the conditions required for the degree of B.Sc resolved to confer and hereby do confer upon each of these two undergraduates the degree of Bachelor of Science

In accordance with the report of Prof. Ferguson Messrs. Meyer, Brown, A. MacTavish and John MacArthur were declared to have passed in English Grammar, and to have attained the rank of undergraduates

[margin] 4 M.A.'s [/margin]

Reports were given in by the respective Committees in favor of the theses of the following applicants for the degree of M.A viz Messrs. John Ferguson B.A., John B. McLaren B.A., John Mordy B.A. and Ab. H. Scott B.A., the Senate having sustained these theses in accordance with the reports of the respective Examiners resolved to confer and hereby do confer the degree of M.A. upon each and all of these gentlemen.

In accordance with the reports of the Committees appointed to examine the prize essays the Senate found that the following essays were entitled to prizes - each essay being indicated by its motto:

I. Lewis, Lecture on Mat VII 7-12 motto. Oratis pravalebit III. Modern docgtrine of energy motto - ['Ev avrw vay Yowuev Iai Kivouus Oa kae'?] V. Life and discoveries of Galileo motto - Junius VI. Nature and influence of the philosophy of Descartes. motto - Irahit sua quemnque voluntas.

The Senate found that the following candidates named in the order of merit had passed the University Examinations in Theology, viz.

First year 1. Gilbert C. Patterson 2. James Cumberland

Second year 1. John Ferguson 2. James G. Stuart 3. Hugh Cameron

[margin] scholarships in Theology [/margin]

It was found that the Scholarships Theology had been gained as follows:

Church of Scotland (1) $70 - John Ferguson do. do (2) $60 - James G. Stuart do. do (3) $50 - Hugh Cameron

[margin] Prize for model of prayer awarded [/margin]

In accordance with the report of the Theological Professors the Bennett Prize for the best model of a public prayer was awarded to A.H. Scott.

[margin] primaries in Medicine [/margin]

The Senate having heard the report of the examiner in Medicine and having had the necessary certificates produced resolved to record and hereby do record that the following undergraduates in Medicine named in alphabetical order have passed their primary examination in Medicine viz

Abbott, Rodney H., Wolfe Island Bennett, Henry, Peterboro John Charles C. Cleaver, Kingston Cleaver, Wm. Fidler, Kingsotn
