Ans About equally divided. 8/ Ques I have about 5 acres of Sod Land for corn that is covered with stalks. What shall I do. Ans About equally divided between plowing in and burning. 9/ Ques What is the best grass seed sower? Ans The Beverly appears to give satisfaction 10/ Ques My mare has ringbone. What shall I do for her? Ans Have it fired by a V. S. 11/ Ques Shall I spread lime now? Ans All say when ever it is in order! 12/ Ques How can I hurry my Vinegar? Ans By changing the barrell. 13/ Ques What shall I do with the weeds in my stubble field Ans Either Rub or Roll down. 14/ Ques How many steers ought I to put on 60 acres of grass? Ans 6 say 30, 5 say 25 & five say 20.

We were called to order at 5. OC by B H Miller all of our members being present. We had a number of guests with us also. After reading the minutes of the previous meeting held here we started for a walk; but were again very unfortunate in the weather it being extremely cold and disagreeable, so that our walk was a very short one, extending only to the Barn & surroundings. The Barn like most at this season was found nearly empty. The Corn House was well filled with corn and was still

without steps. Is this the reason corn is always plenty here? The Stock cattle were looking well most of them being of better quality than those used here. The Wheat was in fair condition but rather late as all is this year. The stone[?] had all been picked and hauled off. At the conclusion of our walk we were invited to Sunnyside to finish the remainder of our meeting. When called to order the minutes of the last meeting were read & approved. After partaking of a bountiful supper the following questions were asked and answered.

1/ Ques Is it too late to put fine Manure on mowing land? Ans All say any time in a week. 2/ Ques What is the best commercial fertilizer for Strawberries? Ans No one had any Experience. 3/ Ques What shall I do for scratches? Ans Gunpowder & Lard was recommended by several? B H Miller read an article on the Washington Market which caused a very interesting discussion after which a Resolution was passed and directed to be forwarded to the District Commissioners on the Market Question. 5/ Ques When would you pasture rye with cows? Ans All say at once. 6/ Ques When will you plant early potatoes? Ans from now to Apl 20th. 7/ Ques What is the best grass for Newground pasture without plowing? Ans Blue Grass & clover some would add Orchard Grass. 8/ Ques Why do we get such poor sits of clover. Ans Each one had some good reason for his failure and no general remedy was given. Your Sec. thought most of the members were willing to charge the weather with most of the failures. 9/ Ques How old do you keep sod? Ans About three years. 10/ Ques What shall I do for grease Heels in Horses? Considered a very difficult disease to cure 11/ Ques Will it pay me to pave my barn yard?

Ans - Most say yes till the grass is good

13/ Ques - Mr Gibbs of Virginia has a very handsome Imported [CJack] horse on exhibitions. He was greatly admired but the price for services was too high for this locality. orig #25

Sunnyside May 7th 1892

The Enterprise Club was called to order at 5:30 by Chas H Brooke. P T Stabler Arthur Stabler and W W Moore were absent. As Guests we had BD Palmer, RH Miller Walter H Brooke & Charles Brooke. After reading the minutes of the previous meeting held here we started for a short walk The new dairy house was greatly admired but had not yet been tried. The Garden was in good condition & far more foward than most as this date. The Dairy Cows were in fine order showing good care & feed. Your Sec. thought Hogs were too numerous for the pen soon at hand. Some promising heifers were seen at the barn On returning to the house it was found the Sec had neglected to bring the minutes of the last meeting so the time was cocupied in various ways. Considerable interested is still manifested in the Washington Market. It was thought not worth while to do any [work] at this session of Congress. After supper the following questions were asked and answered.

1/Ques - What is the price of pasturing colts? Ans - One year old $2 per mo.

2/Ques - What is a pair of horses & plow worth per day, Ans - From $2, to $2.25 per day if fed by owner.

3/Ques - What fertilizer shall I use for potatoes & when to plant, Ans - 60000 Drs Sle & plant in June, though several have planted early this year, perhaps one half of the members.

4/Ques - What do you do for your tenants gardens Ans - Most give from 1/8 to 1/2 acre & store manure & team to plow with.

5/Ques - Will it do to mix hen manure and Dr's Sle before using Ans - No

6/Ques - Will rye pastured to this date (May 7) be worth anything for a crop. Ans - Most think it will make a fair crop

Oak Hill June 4th 1892

The Enterprise Club was called to order later than usual as many of our members were slow to arrive. PT Stabler Arthur Stabler BH Miller & RB Farquhar were absent. Plummer Waters & Mortimer A Stabler were with us at this meeting.

After reading the minutes of the last meeting held here we started for an old [ashio] long walk.

The corn field was found to be in fine condition: our host has numerous long and carefully made drains to convey. The water from the hill portions of the farm. The wheat was good for this year. A smooth wire fence we were told has answered a good purpose. In the orchard we found more fruit than can be found in most places. The trees showed good care had been grown them. On returning to the house the minutes for the last meeting were read & approved. After supper the
