I am sure that within a reasonable time you would hear of a greatly enlarged and effective work being done in this place - I believe the Lord would sanction it as it is for Gospel work in a needy field.

You will probably be surprised and amused as you read the contents of this letter probably you have had simaler letters before not wishing to occupy your valuable time with a lengthy roundabout way explination I will get to business at once.

I am a man 59 years old who has always been industrious temperate and morrell from boyhood have worked hard yet am not a failure. I have suceeded in part I have some property for the past two years business has gone unfavourable with me so my property is involved. Now while you seam to have a large amount of this worlds goods so you could spare a little and would not feel it and it would prove a great blessing to me Should you think favourable of this request it would be greatly appreciated and you would

always have a very warm place in my heart

I sincerly request that you send me a check for $2000.00 if granted would only be used for worthy and benevolent objects.

I have an estimable family consisting of a Wife and 2 Sons and 2 Daughters all go in clean and respectful society.

I hope you may consider this petition favourably and forward the check which would put me in a position to honourably discharge all business obligations which to my mind is our first duty.
