[Liudry] Commiſsions appointed by the Board of Trustees of the University of N. Carolina to view the County within 15 miles around four Cyleante bridge and to rise or the feet of the University, met according to the order of the board - [to wit] Frederick Harget Alexr. Mebane James Hogg, William Hill david Howe & Willie Jones
Appointed Frederick Harget Chairman proceeded to view the Green [Airing], belonging to Philip [Merouy]— Also Matthew Jones to [the monitor], [Matthew Rowlags] could & recieved [therefor for all].
[Sindry Geullews] of the County of Chatham offered further donations to the amount of £400 and add pounds ([exilunue] of £1302 offered as a donation, to the board of Hillsborough) provided the University was fixed in the Forks of Haw & deer River and [[illegible]] Patrick St Lawrence, Geo Lucas, John Mebane Gaebriel Harman & Thomas Stokes guaranteed to the Amount of £1500\ they having all the subsentitions [[illegible]] rounded the University was [[illegible]] in the aforsaid Forks
Proceeded to view Richard [[illegible]]place & Laſsiter's Hill & received the proposal of the respective [[illegible]]
Mr David Howe absent The other Commiſsioners proceed to view Capt. Edwards's & the widow Edwards places on the North side of Haw River
Viewed Signal Jones' place commonly called Edward Parkers [[illegible]] [[illegible]] from the Professors but Signal Joce [[illegible]] & Robt. Cobb offered a [[illegible]] above of 500 acres of land adjoining to the place
Willie Jones landed to the Commiſsioners an offer of 640 acres of land near [[illegible]] Jones; at the Croſsroads [[illegible]] County provided the University was [forced] at [[illegible]] Nash Jones — then proceeded to [[illegible]] New Hope Chapel in Orange County
Recd offers of donations of lands offer amount of 1290 acre of land, eight hundred & forty of which lie on Chapel Hill or adjoining thereto & there [[illegible]] 4 or 5 miles or thereabout — Recieved [[illegible]]
