To the Governor of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah.
Dear Sir,-
I notice that the court has sentenced Joe Hill to be executed, and that he now lies in prison, awaiting execution on 1st of Oct. From what I can learn about his case, I cannot believe that he ever murdered aybody, and, as it now looks to me, the state of Utah will be a murderer, if it executes Joe Hill. If Joe Hill were as wealthy as Rockefeller, do you suppose that the court would have condemned him? How many cruel murders have been committed in the name of Justice! Jesus the Christ, and millions of others have thus been murdered; I beg of you, Governor, that you look into this case carefully, and thwart the aim of those whose hatred, (not love of justice) may be trying to bring about the murder of an innocent man.
Truly yours, A.L. Dawson
