Orofino, Idaho, Sept, 12. 1915. Governor Spry. Salt Lake City. Utah. Dear Sir. As I am in possession of some facts concerning the case of Joe Hill defendent; who is to be executed on Oct I 1st#.which is stirring up considerable interest in this comunity, as it looks very much like a consiercy to get rid of the ## man on account ofhis activity as A revolutionist.

I do not believe he has had A fair trial. I have learned that the jurors have not been selected in the usual way. The defendent was practically without council when he was on trial for his life.

No motive was shown for the crime for which he was convicted. The conviction was found upon the flimsiest kind of circumstantial evidence. Believing these to be facts:I demand that the d death sentence in the case of Joseph Hillstrom be set aside ,and clemency extended.

Dear sir:

I notice by the papers that Joe Hill is to be executed on October the first, in your state. I want to ask you the Governor of the state of Utah to use your power to prevent such a dastardly crime from being committed against the working class.

I consider the execution of Joe Hill to be rank murder, a blow at liberty and a crime against the working class of the United States.

To the Governor of Utah Salt Lake City, Utah.

Honorable Sir.-

The news has just reached me that a labor leader who had the nerve and backbone to stand up for his class in the face of the tyrants and exploiters of labor, demanding justice and a square deal for the working class.

This man's name is Joe Hill he has been charged with murder persecuted and boldy railroaded by an unfair farcial trial in a community where public sentiment was inflamed against him because he dared stand for the right.

I notice that he now lies in prison in your state under sentence to death to be shot on Oct. 1st to be murdered by the law. This act to be committed in the great state of Utah the home of a great church known as Latter Day Saints who say and claim

that they are the great followers of the Prince of Peace who said 1900 years ago "Thou Shalt not Kill" In the name of the One that uttered this language I ask and beseech you to stay the execution of Joe Hill and then acertain the true facts in the case Why he was sentence to death.

In the name of all that is just and right please hold up the shot that is to pierce his heart.

Trusting that you will give this plea for justice your kindness and most earnest consideration.
