Manuscript collection consisting of letters, documents, a journal, photographs, and other ephemera pertaining to Jeremiah Burke Sanderson and his family. Some of the letters were written by Mary Sanderson Grases (sometimes spelled Grasses), his daughter and the first black public school teacher in Oakland, California.

Corn Starch Pudding 4 tablespoonfuls C St 1 quart milk 4 eggs Whites yolk Separate 3/4 cups sugar nutmeg and Cinnamon one tablespoonfuls buter [butter]

Dissolve the Corn Starch in a little cold milk and having heated the rest of the milk to boiling this. Stir in and Boiling Boil three minutes stirring all the time. Remove from the fire and while still hot put in the Butter. Set away until cold. Beat the eggs very light the sugar and Seasoning with them and Stir into the Corn starch Beating thoroughly to a smooth custard. Turn into a Buttered dish and Bake half hour eat with powdered Sugar Sifted over it.

The petition of the undersigned respectfully sheweth that they are regular Free Masons and are at present or have been members of Regular Lodges. That having the prosperity of the Fraternity at heart, they are willing to exert their best endeavors to promote and diffuse the genuine principles of Freemasonry: That for the conveniency of their respective dwellings and other good reasons, they have agreed to form a new Lodge: That in consequence of this resolution, they pray the Most Worshipful Grand Master, for a dispensation to empower them to assemble as a regular Lodge at Stockton, and there to discharge the duties of Freemasonry in a regular and constitutional manner, according to the an-
