Manuscript collection consisting of letters, documents, a journal, photographs, and other ephemera pertaining to Jeremiah Burke Sanderson and his family. Some of the letters were written by Mary Sanderson Grases (sometimes spelled Grasses), his daughter and the first black public school teacher in Oakland, California.

familiarity with its examples - love for its morality Restore the Bible with its system of Moral sci ence whole unbroken throughout xx as a garment without a seam, a complete body, not a bone of it broken - xx It must not be cut shortened and pressed out of shape to accommodate the passions of men, systems of popular wickedness.

There is less to be feared from the objection that men will take to the Bible and use it in the support of false views sects partial systems.

What are his feelings? E[!]xaltation? Pride? --- No! Humility. Self abasement. "Who is sufficient for these things? Power be longeth [belongeth] unto the Lord __ The Preacher authorized from on high." "Take thou authority" __ see Discipline Bishop's charge. "Go ye" _ "Preach my gospel." "Feed the flock of Christ." __ God's household. __ under the figures - sheep. lambs. Jesus to Peter. __ "By what authority these things?" No man taketh it himself Heb. V - 4. "but he that is called of God." as was baron" __ Minister liable to be criticised [criticized], judged, censured, praised __ Subject to this. A spectacle to men, angels, to God, a cloud of witnesses who while watching, look for defection in words, actions

Be wise as a serpent, harmless as a dove __ A minster servant to all __ No master _ To gain some. A father, brother, friend, counsellor, physician, teacher comforter __ Pastor defender pitiful courteous.

And yet a man, in the flesh __ Needing sympathy. love.
