Niederbreitbach, Germany. Feb. 16, 1919.

Dear mother:

Tis Sunday again so will write a few letters. Am sending you a Panorama of the Rhine in a different envelope and hope you get it. Also sent some postals to Ida and Ruby. I went to Neuwied last Wednesday to watch a football game between our division team and the 32nd division team. We came out on top 18 to 0. It was a very interesting game though but pretty rough. There must have been at least ten thousand

people there. Four or five bands so we had plenty of music Neuwied is quite a town. Never had much time to take in the town as we left night after the game. Our company team played the 49th Co yesterday afternoon and were beaten - 31-0. Nearly every one in the Co had a bet upon the game.

We had a little over twelve thousand francs up. The 49th can sure celebrate now. It has been pretty cold here lately. The creek is frozen up & one can skate on it in a good many places. Is it that cold at home? Was sorry to hear about Mr. Hixon & the Sheehy girl dying. The Flu must be a good deal worse in the states than it is over here. It dont seem to be very bad over here now. I have still got that postal money order and am going to try and get it cashed by the Chaplain.

Haven't rec'd any papers for quite a while I get my other mail pretty regular though. Well I can't think of any thing more so guess

we all got together. He said that we was the best Div he had looked over yet and that we ought to be proud of belonging to it. He also said that we would be one of the first divisions to leave when the Army of Occupation broke up. I figure on quite a stay over here yet though. We are fixed very comfortable so I should worry. We are given liberty more often now so I will get to see quite a bit a this country. Have been to Neuwied several times & got a good view of Coblenz the other day. We have a Y.M.C.A. here now so can get all the sweets etc. that we want. I have another 2nd

Kurtscheid, Germany June 8, 1919.

Dear mother:

Am sending you some photographs of some of the damage that the Germans did to some of the villages in France which I thought might interest you. Rec'd several letters from you last night and one from Ida. Your latest one was written May 19 I believe & had the stamps in it. Thanks very much for them. I have plenty now to last me for a long time so you needn't send any more.

Say I dont want you to send me any money or Ida either as I have plenty and will buy you them articles if I get a liberty to Coblenz or Neuwied.

It is sure warm here today.
