cated and attempted concealment. His character is infamous. He is an old man, but not so much advanced in years, as that it would savour of cruelty for him to undergo pu= nishment.
After conviction, a motion was made to arrest the judgment, which failed. And appeal was then taken to the Supreme court, and the prisoner let out on bail.
In order to prevent imposition, I would suggest, that large contingent fees are given, to screen the defendant from pu nishment; which cannot be accomplished by ordinary le gal means, and the object is to do it at any rate. -
