I haven't written to you since I was home which is quite awhile. During the time I was in the hospital I didn't feel like writing to anybody so I guess you will let me go this time for being so neglectful.

that ever wore stripes. We certainly have good reason to be hard-boiled to. All the rest of the men that we trained are about to leave for France and all we have to look forward to is four months of strenuous trainng, and training rookies at that. Myself with a number of other non-coms asked to be reduced to the ranks so we could go with the rest of them, but our request was turned down cold.

The officers told us that we were too easy with the last men that were in the company and that it is up to us to "hit the ball" with this next bunch or step down and let some one else take ourplace. Nobody realizes it any more than I do myself, but things will
