there. Of course I had a good time the whole time I was there but you know what I mean. After dinner Martha, your mother, & Joc went up to call on Miss Hall, (Mrs. Breed's sister), I stayed home with your father. He told me all about his experiences as a sailor. The folks got home about 9.30. We sat by the fire and talked awhile, then went to bed.

This morning we got the house cleaned up to leave it. Joc and your father brought the canoe up. I didn't go out in it again. I was going in it yesterday but was too lazy to dump the water out so

finished our book which took us until 11 o'clock. Then we went to bed.

Friday Mrs. Breed is going to have a card party. We are making pillows for the prizes of burlap and filling them with redwood. We have been busy this morning getting the redwood. It is scorching hot to-day. We haven't been in swimming yet, I just can't get up enough courage to go in that smelly water.

We started another book to-day called the, "Film

what to think, because I haven't heard from you since last Tuesday and am really beginning to worry, dear.

Joc left on the six train last evening. We hated to have him go. We had our big dinner about four and then we didn' have to get any tea in the evening. I made some candy last night. Mrs. Breed went home yesterday with Horace and Elizabeth. Mrs. Breed will be back again to-morrow. Florence Breed is over at the house alone with the cook so we asked her over to dinner yesterday and to stay all night. Artha and I went over to her house for breakfast this morning.

that you will do fine in it, you always do in all your work.

Mr. Field came down last night and brought George Palmer with him, but they are both going back to-night. George had a day vacation.

Last night Mrs. Breed, Florence Breed and Helen Dunn came over. We played "Bridge". We expect mother and dad down to-morrow.

It was too cold to go in swimming yesterday so we didn't attempt it. There was a cold wind blowing.

think I haven't seen you for five weeks.

Wasn't that too bad about Caruso's death. I always loved his voice so much & hoped that sometime I would hear him in reality but now I never will.

Martha and I went to a card party yesterday and had a lovely time. Mrs. Breed & Florence Breed went home to-day.

I forgot to tell you that the other day I made my first cake. It turned out alright, it must have because the kids are all living.

I do hope I am going to hear that you can come down. There will be no other company, as far as I know. You know how much I want you, dear, so try & come.

Lots of love, Marion
