Saturday 6th AM Wind S by W weather moderate PM Wind S All sail

Sunday 7th AM Wind S by W weather moderate PM Winds the same very Moderate After super all boats lowered for excercise

Monday 8th AM Light winds from the N E PM Winds the same and very warm

Thursday 9th AM Light winds from W 7 bells in Morning raised Sperm Whale 3 miles of [weather?] Bow lowered all 3 boats and pulled for them We raised 4 Sperm Whale but did not suceed In getting long of them About 3 O clock they returned To the ship after a pull about 30 miles All hands pretty well tuckered Hoisted boats and then for dinner After dinner was over lowered again Black fish Returned to The ship about dark Capt's Boat took one

Wednesday 10th AM No wind until 11 O clock then the[re] was a light breeze from the East 8 O Clock look out aloft reported whale 3 points of weather Bow. Lowered but did not succeed in takeing Any Returned to the ship at 10 O clock PM Winds light from S E

Thursday 11th AM light winds from the N E with light showers of rain PM Whale reported from aloft at 1 O clock Lowered and returned with out success The old man is considerable Riled] ship not kept to suit him

Friday 19th AM Light winds and variable PM Raised a ship to leeward With signal set and endeavouring to gain with us we answered her by setting our signal but not with the intention of speaking her
