Thursday the 8 of January AM light wholesail breeze from the Nwest and pleasant weather nothing in sight PM the same so ends this day Lat 41S Long 136 East [S & EAST SUPERSCRIPT]

Friday January the 9 1846 AM light wholesail breeze with squalls of wind steering east South East nothing in sight this afternoon the same at 3 Oclock this afternoon raiswed 2 right whales half mile from the ship lowered for them but to no effect whales very wild so ends these 24 hours Lat 45 S Longitude 134 East [S SUPERSCRIPT]

This Day commences with a gale of wind from the Northward under close reef topsail and foresail PM wind the same with [being?] Rain as 3 [???] Wind haules [hauls] into the Northward [crossed out] West and [???] all sail stored [stoved?] on course Wind hauling into the N West N East so ends these 24 hours Lat Long

Friday January th 16 1846 AM light wholesail brese from the South east and cloudy weather. Steering Notherth east half north, this Afternoon raised a school of blackfish lowered for them struck a number of them and got one so ends these 24 hours Lat Long

Saturday January th 17 1846 AM good strong wholesail brese from the Nwest steering North east half north PM wind hauls into the South wwest and moderate weather nothing in sight Lat Long

Saturday [sic] the 18 AM light changeable winds and pleasant weather. raised a sperm whale We layed back for it but he disappeared PM wiwnd increases steering North east half north So ends these 24 hours Lat Long

Monday the 19 of January 1846 This day commences with good weather and wholesail brese from the west steering our course nothing in sight this forenoon. This afternoon wind increasing blowing heavy this knight[NIGHT] shortened sail running under close reef topsails at 4 O clock this morning we had a heavy squall of rain and thunder with lightning so ends this ---ght[?] Lat Long

At twelve Oclock we had a heavy squall of rain with heavy thunder and sharp lightning until 5 Oclock all hands were called and every thing furled bad all this knight so ends these 24 hours

Wednesday January the 21 1845 This morning part wholesail and rugged weather steering North by east nothing in sight This afternoon wind increases shortened sail again South East this knight so ends these 24 hours Lat 36.16 Long 165.30

Thursday the 22 of January 1845 AM squally of wind and rugged weather running with close reef topsails and foresail this afternoon more moderate making more sail this afternoon steering our course North by east at 12 Oclock today we spoke the ship Clifford ?? of Fairhaven 14 months out with 180 bbls of Sp[SPERM] oil cruising on this ground so ends these 24 hours Lat Long 170 east

Friday January the 23 1845 A[M] part strong brese and fair weather 3 sails in sight this morning at half past nine Oclock this morning we first discovered the 3 high cliffs of New Zealand at 10 we spoke the ship Walterscott of Nantucket 16 months out 400 barrels of sperm oil nothing more of importance so ends these 24 hours

Saturday January the 24th AM light whole sail brese and pleasant weather at 12 o'clock almost calm towards knight light brese again Two sails in sight Laying on and off the on the land of New Zealand so ends these 24 hours

Sunday the 25th 1846 This morning good pleasant weather with a dead calm about 6 miles from Money?? after breakfast lowered abt 3 boats took to towing the ship after 3 hours of pulling we had a good brese and all hands came aboard at half past 12 oclock we came to an anchor in this great port so ends these 24 hours

Monday the 26 of January 1846 This day commences breaking out lower hold and setting up casks for watter

Tuesday the 27th 1846 Good weather breaking out and taking water 1 watch on shore nothing more of importance so ends these 24 hours Lat Lon
