Hon Mayor and City Council
Gentlemen
I herewith hand you January report of health department- Our Hospital account is slightly increased owing to time of year for the poor & needy sick to seek hospital protection & aid. The health of the city, is in very good condition, as ran inspection of the death rate will testify_ being a rate of 7.50 for the month based on a population of 32000_
Our birth rate is very satifatory although incomplete being - 57 birth for the month_ 54 white & 3 colored. The Sanitary condition of city is in fairly good shape_ During the cold weather there is usually an unavoidable amount of manure & Trash deposited in back yards & alleys which will require some urging to get removed before warm weather come in_ my instructions and advice is to begin early. Thanking you kindly
I am Respectfully, Rufus Chambers City Physicians
