Leaves awned perfectly. The florets of ye disk & rays nearly equal. Rays pale Blue disks purple

Gen & Spec Char. most perfectly accord. Upper leaves ovate — Sessile N. Species Semiamplexicaulibus Lower leaves undulated at leaf, well expressed by Aiton. — Blossom on racem branches at right angles with ye stems. — Stem hispid. Blos. rise erect from ye stems Bright Caeruleus. or Bright purplish blue in radio — Bright Yellow in disk. Cal. properly imbrecated. L. Brown Hill. N.B. All ye leaves semi amplexicaulibus

16) Sept 16 Aster cordifolius Heart Leaved Aster on Paniculatus. Aiton? Chrs most perfectly accord — Aiton's descripo. excellent. But we have at least two varieties.

A Caule purpurea, flos. purpurea, folliis et caule subtus pilosus, caule hirto, multifloris. { discus luteus tandem ferrugis neus

B. Caule viride patide, flospalide purperia vel albidis folliis et caule glabris Latin badly expressed

A — Stems purplish, flowers in radio bluish purple — in disk some reddish — some yellowish. Underside leaves hairy — stalk hairy — much branched — numerous flowers

B. Stems pale green flowers Whitish purple in rays in disks

The Chr. appear to accord well — My Specn very dry — wish for better — The plant is altogether hairy & ye Calix Squarish. But these Specns are not so spread. as some Asters. Bloss rays bright light Blue disk — yellow. L. Brown's Hill

18) Sept 16 Aster junceus. Aiton Slender Stalked Starwort Smooth leaved Aster

The Sp. Chr. accord well — tho^. ye lower leaves only have a small number of very small serrae towards ye apex. Upper leaves & branch leaves are lanceolate & intire. Stem & leaves feel perfectly smooth, but have a very fine thin scatered down. Stem very slender about 4 feet high — tho^. ge= =nerally lower. Calyx accord well — Bloss — rays are not lightly incarnate — but a purplish blue — disk a bright yellow. If it is not of this spc it is a new one — but can not find Chr sufficient to suppose it can be
