Flowe The Stem, & ye underside of ye leaves are a little tomentose, The calyx & Pedicles more so —
The flowers are in panicles sent off from ye upper part of ye stalk & nearly from a corymbose. 2 or 3, or 4 grow out from ye same branch & rise so as to be nearly equal at ye [tope?] Blos. yellow pec

Prenanthes altisima agrees It must be a New Spec. —
Prenanthes nutanta — flosculis sub denis, foliis floribus nutantibus, foliis trilobis, glabris caule erecto
This may possibly be ye variety B of P. alba — But I think not.
Stem some linear. 6 or 8 feet high generally 4 or 5 — Lower leaves divided into threes — & those agn dided into one, two, or three segments or else dentated —

26) Upper leaves 3 lobed & dentated - nearly all ye leaves are properly dentated. Long leaf stems, with a leafy appendage running down to the stalks. Leaves smooth.
Flowers pendent from ye branches sent off to= =wards ye top. They are in bunches hanging down & ye top of the ye plant is — properly in ye form of a panicle of flowers — — No. of florets about ten — some more, some less Blos Yellowish white
Dr. Whipples woodland — found a specimen under Mr Sholurt's Poplars — in burying Grund lot more than 8 feet high.

27) Sept. 20 Eupatorium } oppositifoli =um Thorough Wax } Cordatifolius
I think this cannot be ye rotundifolium — for ye leaves are accuminated. They are opposite & at a distance appear like perfoliatum I should describe it — Eupatorium oppositifolium — filiis sessilibus, oppositis, distinctis, cordato-ovatis, acutis, serratis; octofloris. rugosis, subtomentosis octofloris.
Blos. White in corym= bs forming a perfect co= =rymbose. Leaves very light green & rough — In moist land, among bushes. It may be a variety of

28) Sept 21 Aster Tradescanti [tradescantii].
The Chr in Lin. accord per= =fectly — & seems to be a better, or more particular descripto. yn Aiton — But all Aitons Chr are found in this plant.
We have ye two varieties mentioned by Aiton. A floribus caeruleis. Tradiscant's [Tradescant's] dwarf Star-flower. B floribus albis. Tradiscant's Tall Star flower.
A The 1st Variety.
