131 — 1885 — — Shelburne, N.H. — — Aug. 16 — A beautiful day, clear and not warm. This A.M. Margie & I walked down to the river. Spent part of the morning verifying the N.J. plants This P.M. a party of us drove to Peabody's, some 3 miles up the road and walked in the Lead Mine to a flume formed by the rocks. It is a fine spot. I was also delighted to find the little Asplenium trichomanes and Aspidium fragrans on the cliffs. The blueberries ({Vaccinium} canadense) are very abundant very where. I never imagined that they could grow so thickly. On one stem I counted 27 berries clustered as thickly as they could press against each other. We returned in time for supper. Cicuta bulbifera, L. Wet ground by the creek. I found but one specimen Asplenium trichomanes, L. I found 3 specimens in a shaded cliff. Aspidium fragrans, Swartz. I got 24 specimens of this Fern growing in a cleft of the rocks. It was in a dry place.
