Dear Dr. Van Waters:

Thank you for your kind letter received December 14th regarding Charles Tracey.

I sympathized wholeheartedly with your concern regarding Mr. Tracey, and was delighted with the Governor's reprieve which came almost simultaneously.

With every best wish for the New Year, I am -

I want to thank you for the money you send me for cigarettes I appreciate it very much.

Theres not too much to do here in Block nine but I try to make the best of it.

I manage to do a lot of reading and watching television and I do read the News Paper everyday, but used to play checkers and chess but we just lost interest in the games we do go out in the yard once in a while it's only a small section right in back of Block nine only two can go out at a time to exercise I guess it's better than staying indoors everydya. other than that it's

pretty dull and uninteresting. we painted the whole place not long ago in Block nine.

We painted our rooms not too long ago and the rest of the place too when I first come here. Block nine was painted yellow well at least it looked yellow it make's the hwole place smell clean the men on the other side painted their's pink I guess everybody has their own personal taste.

I imagine there's been a lot of changes in Boston since I been here I've never been out your way Ive always been too busy working Framingham sounds like a nice peacful place to live. I enjoyed hearing from you very much so long for now Dr Van Waters. and thanks for everything.

Cordially Charles Tracy.

Dear Mariam I got your letter on the 17th tuesday and was very good to hear from you how is everything. been feeling fine I hope. I understand that the Hong Kong flu is on the upsweep in Massachusetts again this year I've been quite lucky so far. I guess you could call it that.

I dont think I will be lucky enough to do without the second cart though - every bodies doing well as can be expected here. we are trying to learn spanish in our spare time we have the records and the record player. its kind of hard since we're not use to speaking a foreign language. Well anyway it gives us something to do and might learn something besides.
