(Perre along) to the old dock, no shells. Drinks in bar and late dinner & talk with Hoyts & Dr C.

Fri 4/10 To S. Island again walking too far & being worn out. Got some burn on tops of my bare feet. Rum collins before lunch for which Prue had a good appetite. Two naps in afternoon! Twelve people left by plane & the place has only us, the Hoyts and the two British women. Very quiet. A few from other places in for drinks & dinner.

Sat 4/11 We drove with native chauffeur from one end to other. Fine homes at N. end, Ferry at other with native villages like nothing I ever saw. $12 for trip. About noon when we returned. Nap as usual in aft. Several parties in for

drinks & dinner, including men we saw at Airport in Nassau, who rented the fine homes, $1000 a week we were told!

Sun 4/12 Sat by pool most of the morning. Decided not to attend service in Anglican church a/c no hat. Usual very good buffet lunch, except smaller table. P & P went to S. Island in aft & I slept! Wind veering to S.E.

Mon 4/13 Going away day! With change of wind, it was quite hot & sticky. Awake early, I partly packed before breakfast, and rested on bed part of A.M. After lunch we finished packing & left in station wagon for Airstrip (no port) with Kay Smith driving. (The Reeses left for all day picnic soon after breakfast.) To Nassau where we had

just time to drive in to town 10 miles. Got some likker hdkchfs & Prue a straw bag & hand bags. Fruit salad in Airport dining room, Little over an hour to W.P.B. where we had to go through customs. Man didn't open my bags! To Mt V. by 9:30 & ready for bed!

Tues 4/14 Slept late - for us! Br at HJ across the street. Repacked & Prue & I up Coast while Perre took inland road for Leesburg. Too windy & cold for shelling so we gave up after no luck on several beaches. Reached Leesburg 5:30, Prue driving most of the way. Wilks house most attractive. I slept in Jim's office. Mary over.

Wed 4/15 Perre found tire flat on Honey and made a big project of trying to change it till I put my foot down & called a Standard Station. Man came & took it in to fix. Pr. & I had hair

done at 2:30 & picked up tire & got gas after. Small break in tire, put boot in. Dinner with Bowens at Thatchers. Saw Mary's house. Home & to see the Averys. A pest of what they call blind mosquitoes is terribly annoying to say the least! Swallows by the thousands cant make a dent in their numbers. They hatch in the lake & cover everything.

Thurs 4/16 Pr, Marg & I to town shopping. Got bug spray for inside of car. Gave Marg part of a bottle of Sherry. After aft. nap, we went next door to see Bains, lovely home. Dinner at Trade Winds & a hot game of Contract till late. Saw Jims four new houses.

Fri 4/17 Finished packing after breakfast. Lovely sight of lake early, pink reflected from cloud over red sun, and all sorts of shore birds. I have enjoyed my early coffee by window overlooking

lake. Left about 8:45, taking time to be good & slow. Bs going the other direction. Enjoyed a big ham sandwich, banana & coffee on the road. Some rain. Finally found Lena Dickson's house in Orlando but she not there. Neighbor told me where to find her on A1A near Melbourne. She is caring for baby at Margaret's house daytimes. How does she stand it? Beautiful 2 yr old but such constant care! Visited with her then drove down Melbourne Beach. All apts & no motels, so back to Melbourne where I found a place on Rt 1. Room back from street in fine grove of live oaks. Sou Comf & nap before dinner at nearby HJ Sat at counter a/c crowd.

Sat 4/18 Awake early. Had coffee & biscuit, shower, dressed & walked to HJs for breakfast
