Mrs Bradley steamed brown bread

1 cup flour 2 " corn meal 2 " graham flour 1 " mollases 1 teaspoon soda 3 1/2 cups sour milk a little salt + raisens steam 4 hours

Salmon Loaf

1 can salmon as much bread as salmon. soak bread in cold water put in buttered tins and steam 3 hours

Nut Candy

2 cups granulated s - 1/2 cup water 1/2 cup corn syrup cook until it hardens in water, whites of 2 eggs beaten stiff. put in a little of the egg at a time + beat it hard. When stiff enough to spread put on platter + cut in squares. put in nuts + vanilla

Soups

Celery Soup

chop the leaves + outside pieces of celery and put in cold water, boil 1/2 hour, then strain + add to liquid salt pepper + milk. thicken with flour + butter rubbed together

Corn Soup

1 pint grated corn or 1 can best corn 1 qt milk 1 pint hot water 1 heaping tablespoon flour heaping " " butter 1/2 medium sized onion. if fresh corn [is u]sed, cook it in the pint [h]ot water for 1/2 hour. cut [u]p the onion cook in the [?] strain + add Hot [m]ilk, mix flour + butter and add some of the hot milk, stir till smooth then add to boiling milk and cook a few minutes add 1/2 cup cream salt + pepper Mrs A P Baker Grand R
