To Charles Cushman from Lovering (page 31)

Dear Sir
I have sent your gates to Wm Blake & Co. on Charles St corner of Allen St Boston, who I think will be most successful in repairing your gates, as they are accustomed to that class of work.
After looking them over, Mr Blake found that it would be almost impossible to restore them completely, and sent for me to come & see them. I went with two of our Trustees and after talking with Mr Blake, they decided that I have best inform you of the fact, and request you to see Mr Blake & make such arrangements as you saw fit.
These trustees propose to offer a reward of $10000 for the arrest & conviction of the parties concerned in the removal & injury of the gates, which out to be a sufficient inducement I should think to any parties in possession of any information to come forward, & I sincerely hope that we may succeed in punishing the guilty parties.
Respectfully J.W. Lovering Supt.

Dear Sir
In the case of Silsby's Tomb 2940 Lawn A., it is expected that another interment may be made, in the same catacomb and this party wish the catacomb left unsealed for a short time -- I have no authority to leave a catacomb unsealed and will in no case take such responsibility as the law states that "the shall be hermetically sealed"
In this case you can make it air tight with brick or slate and cement but in such manner that a second interment can be ^madewithout damage to the tomb by removing the sealing.
Very truly J. W. Lovering Sup.t per Childs
