COOLOOLA - Cooley Bah Leaf COOTHARABA - Kookaburra WEYBA - Fire or Matches.
At present we are unable to obtain the meaning of the remaining 2 words, but as soon as possible, they will be forwarded on.

A request has been received from Mr. G. LeQuesne, Tewantin, regarding the names of five lakes in the Tewantin area which are said to have aboriginal names. These lakes are called :-
Cooloola Cootharaba Cooroibah Donella Weyba
Please advise if the meanings of these aboriginal words are known to you so that the necessary information may be passed on to Mr. LeQuesne.

Re: Enquiries Native Words
With reference to your B/c communication of the 15th instant, reference 1A/230, regards enquiries for the native name meaning "The meeting of the four winds", it is advised that we have made enquiries here and no native can supply the words meaning same.
The only information we can give is the following:
"BURRANBEAR" - The winds come "BURRAN YERBARE" - 4 wind meets.
Also with reference to your memo of 23rd instant, you are advised that the following words mean "Trouble":
