The State of Alabama Shelby County To E Porter Gauld Esqr We having full faith in your prudence and competency you are hereby commissioned to call David Meradith before you and him Examine on oath tuching his Knowledge of the hereinto attached Interrogatory; &, +; Interrogations, and said testimony when taken you will certify the same to our court of Probate to be held at the Probate Judges office in Columbiana on the fourth Tuseday of June Just Over your properhand and certificate herein fail not and make the proper return Witness &c 14th day of June AD 1854 J M McClanahan Judge of Probate

Examination of David Meredith - witness in the part of John Cost in the above stated cause who personally known to me was between the hours 9 A.M. and 12 A M on the 22nd day of June 1854 at the residence of David Merideth in the County of Shelby - and state of Alabama called before the undersigned Commissioner and after being sworn to speak the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth did depose and testify as above shown and stated - which was takn down reduced to writing and signed by said witness in my presence.
