I have just recoved from a violent fever which brought me to the gates of death, Prayer was heard, and I am still spared, may it be for the glory of God. I am very fond of natural history particularly of botany and have made a large collection of plants from different parts of the world which are flourishing in the Mission Gardens at Serampore. You will greatly oblige me by sending me some seeds, bulbous or ? roots &etc as you may be able; Pray try to collect ? seeds as many sorts as you possibly can, and send from time to time by the ships bound to Calcutta; A few shells ? would also be a very acceptable present, as would ? specimens of the ? of New Holland. I fear it would not be possible to send birds or beasts alive, if it were, they would be an acceptable present, but I am most anxious to obtain seeds, and bulbous or other fleshy roots. your seeds will be beautiful flowers here, and your ? fruits grateful, so much the more as coming from brethren employed in the same work, whom we should remember whenever we behold the productions of New Holland. Pray therefore oblige me as often as you can in this way. I am, very affecty yours W. Carey
