1915 April. [continued from previous page] to gym. Pleasant sunny day.

Thurs. 15 Miss Pischel came in & we had lunch together at the Ursula. Miss Galvin & I went to hear a lecture on "Twilight Sleep" at Rothchild's. Great sign of the times. Warm day. Tired. An ineffectual profitless day.

Fri. 16 Chilly day. Lunch with Editha & Llewellyn Jones at Hearth. Singing lesson at 1.30 went to bank etc. Dinner at Hearth alone. Walked home & fell to bed exhausted never woke till 9.

Sat. 17 Wrote peace article for "Life & Labor". Miss Galvin & I had lunch at Domestic Science. Ethel came in and I took her to tea. In evening Miss G & I went to Hull Hse. Cafe for dinner & saw "War Brides".

April. 1915 Sun. 18 Very warm day. Went to shop for supplies & stayed in room all rest of day. Slept 3½ hrs in afternoon. Typed a Christmas story.

Mon 19 Lunch at College Club with E. Phelps, Miss Merriman & Rose S. Dinner alone & walked home. V. warm day wore little check suit & black hat with white wings

Tues 20 Had lunch with Emma P. & Rose S. at Thompson's. Dinner with Miss Galvin & walked home. Turned cold Trimmed sailor hat.

Wed 21 Dull day. Lunch with Miss Henry at Ursula. Did nothing but potter over a few trifling letters. Dinner at Hearth [continued on next page]

1915 April. [continued from previous page] alone. Walked home practised a little and went to gym.

Thurs 22 Lunch with Kathleen Ussher at Ontra. Another profitless day Took Miss Henry to tea at Kranz. Dinner with Editha at Hearth, went to library & then walked home. Warm. Walked home without coat.

Fri. 23 V. warm day. Singing at 1.30 went around by bank. Took Miss Merriman & Miss G. to tea at Kranz's. Miss H. Miss G. & I went to Stenographers' meeting & then to Tip-Top Inn for supper. I walked home alone.

Sat. 24 V. warm day. Another profitless day in office. Z. Gale came at 3 & took Miss G. Rose S & I to tea at the Auditorium. Rose & I walked home. No hot water so uncomfortable. Weary & depressed.

April. 1915 Sun. 25 Stayed in room. Editha came at 3.30. At five we went to Lincoln Pkway. & had dinner. I went to Art Institute to concert. Met K. Ryan.

Mon 26 Warm day. Lunch with Lulu Holly at Hearth. Ethel came in. Dinner with Miss Galvin at Hearth & walked home tired and depressed Practised a little.

Tues 27 Warm day. Lunch with Edith Mason at College Inn place. In evening dinner at Hearth with Crumps - Editha & went to Little Review Entertainment. Editha in one of her worst moods.

Wed 28 Worked on Secretary's report. Lunch alone at Eat Shop on Lake. Ethel called for a minute. Hot day. Dinner alone at Hearth got home v. [continued on next page]

April 1915 [continued from previous page] tired. No hot water place unbelievably dirty & horrible. Went to gym. but had to come home with terrible headache

Thurs. 29 Stayed in bed till noon. At night Miss G. Rose S. Miss O'Neil & I went to hear Mendelssohn Club in Orchestra Hall

Fri. 30 Cold day. Singing at 1.30 round by bank. Dinner alone at Hearth & walked home. Went to bed pretty early.

May. Sat. 1 Got down late. Lunch at Hearth alone. Worked all afternoon. Miss G & I had dinner at Ursula & went to see Jane Cowl in "The Songbird"
