Dear sir: I wish to petition you in the name of common right and justice in the name of persecuted labor to pardon, or commute, the sentence of, James Hill, or Hillstrom.
In my estimation he is innocient The victim of a sad persecution. Would it not be better that a thousand criminals escaped unscathed than that one good man should be

Joe Hill being a member of the I.W.W. is naturally an object of hatred to a certain element in our general society and, being a very active member of that organization, why not doubly so.
