LOCAL UNION No. 2180 UNITED MINE WORKERS OF AMERICA

An Injury to One Is an Injury to All

Dungen, Ohio 19

said Court denied him the privilege of being defended by counsel of his own selection or of conducting his own defence and that he has therefore been deprived of benefit of counsel.

Because the conviction of said Hillstrom was obtained upon flimsy and wholy insufficient evidence the said trial being a mockery of justice and the verdict rendered therein due wholy to predjudice prevailing in said Salt Lake County against Hillstrom because of his activity in the labor movement.

Hon Sir:

I consider that if you allow Joe Hill to be shot Oct., 1st that is rank out and out murder.

He is a friend of the labor movement. I look to you as chief executive to stop this crime against the liberty of the people.

I am not an I.W.W. - just a common American farmer.

We demand the justice that is promised by the Consitution.

We have had enough of this high handed rail-roading men out of one state into another to be murdered because they were loyal to the slaves of this country.

Sincerely W.E. Clemant
