To the Governor of Utah.
Dear Sir.
Unless reference "The wrath of God" has become an empty sound, it would seem as though a person in your official character would go carefully and prayerfully before sanctioning the execution of Joe Hill on the coming Oct- 1st, or on any other date.
I am taking this occasion as a workingman to file a protest against this one of many judicial atrocities against my class.
Yours very respectfully, A.H. Cleaves [signature]

Dear Sir -
I take the liberty to politely request you to order the immediate release of one Joe Hill who I understand is in prison under sentence of death for the crime of being loyal to his fellow workers. If this man is murdered and such things are allowed to go on, how long do you think the workers will stand for it. In the name of justice and humanity we now demand the release of Joe Hill.

The Ludlow massacre and the Federal industrial relations commissions finding should open your eyes a little bit and show you that the workers are not always going to stand for such tyranny. Release Joe Hill and show the world that you are a man and have a right to be a citizen of a free country.
Yours respectfully W. Cummings [signature] 1519 N. Arsenal Ave.

I feel deeply prompted to write you in regard to Joe Hill Sentenced to Execution on Oct 1st. It seems to me that it will be nothing less than a crime most atrotious and revolting. I regard the sentencing of Labors leaders to death & Life imprisonment as the most Shocking thing in our country to day Please let your better thought guide you. Save Joe Hill.
