Mr. A. M. Graham 34 Park Place, San Diego, Calif.

My dear Sir:-

I beg to make this tardy acknowledgement of your cordial letter of November 20th, expressing your approval of my action in the Hillstrom case. It is indeed a source of gratification to know that throughout the United States, there are many who have a word of praise for those who seek to maintain law and order.

I have taken the liberty of showing your letter to the members of the Board of Pardons who join me in this expression of thanks.

Very truly yours,

Governor.

TACOMA, WASHINGTON, 11-20-15.

Hon. William Spry, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Dear Sir:— As a tax-payer and a citizen who desires good government, the writer wishes to commend you for the stand you took in the Hillstrom case. If we had more Governors like you there would be less violence and bloodshed. Keep up the good work and I am in hopes you will shame some of the other Governors into doing their duty.

Yours very truly, J. T. Gregory

It is a source of very much satisfaction to me to receive from the decent and law-abiding people of this country, words of commendation for my stand in this somewhat notorious case, and I wish to thank you most sincerely for your thought in writing to me.

Cordially yours,

Governor.

134 Montford Avenue, Asheville N.C. November 23rd. 1915.

His Excellency, The Governor, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Sir;

Permit me to express my entire approbation of all that you have said and done in the Hillstrom matter.

Utah is fortunate in having a chief executive who will not allow justice to be swerved either by the threats of ruffians, or the clamor of timid or unthinking people who do not realize the consequences of what they advocate.

Very truly yours, Donald Gillis ✖

Mr. Donald Gillis, 134 Montford Avenue, Ashville, North Carolina.

Dear Sir:—

I beg to thank you for your letter of November 23rd, approving of my action in the Hillstrom case.

It has been a source of great satisfaction to me to receive commendatory letters from different sections of the United States written by those who are attempting to uphold law and order. Vigorous disapproval of the methods which were employed in this Hillstrom case and similar cases will have a tendency to curb those of anarchistic tendencies in their acts and utterances. I have taken the liberty of showing your letter to the members of the State Board of Pardons and they join me in this expression of thanks

Sincerely yours,

Governor.
