3/ her I didn't, so will not (as the politicians say) make any statement at present. I was picking cherries a few weeks ago but they were for my own use. They taste far better when they are absent without leave. Did I tell you about eating the blackberries which contained worms? Well there is not much to tell as it was mostly all feeling. A few days ago we had the pleasure of being inspected by Field Marshal Sir Douglas Haig. He is fairly short and stout and with an eye like an eagle( or as the broncos say heagle). The rain spoiled what otherwise would have been a pleasant outing. I am back with the battalion again as you no doubt knew by this time. Jack is in the same Company but a different platoon. We have been out of the line for rest and training, but are now somewhat nearer and do not know

4/ what is in the wind. I can hear a very famaliar singing sound, also a noise as if someone broke the drum, so suppose there must be a war on near here.
