Dear Brother J.N.R With fear and trembling I comence writing you to day as I have to inform you that I missed the senator yesterday and as I was anxious not to disappoint you in a sentence I was induced to send it down by the Clerk of the Confidence and I hope you have recd it as it was quite an amount it was $1160. and the day before was 1200 and to day I send you all I have on hand and you will please pay Mr Doolittle five hundred and thirteen dollar as [illegible] has handed me that amount for him thier will be some more cash cuming to him but I can arrange that to his satis faction, our barley is all most gon and the 90 sacks that is cuming will not last long at 8 1/2 & 8 3/4 the Potato trade is fare but this is quite a good morning in the market and it is supplied but we have our custemors and can sell along with the rest of them I allso sent a letter that was directed to Mr Doolittle to you and I marked on it that you must call at the Confidence and the Expressman said he could deliver it to you he put your name upon it and I told the clerk you wold call in person for the pacage I hope it has all turned well but I felt after it had started that I wold rather I had disappointed you. sustained a greate loss in loosing hir husband but I think Brother John has don well in seteling up the buisiness as he has don so soon for the balance of thier buisiness will not be like the first of it. I think it will be well to secure some of thier [illegible] fuse as it will be [illegible] and high. Clark says you can get some on montgomery or betwin Washington & Jackson upper side at the store marked licenced to sell Pouder.at 6./4 cents and a few good mackerel in pt 1/4 tbls will do well send a small memorandum. The City Mar 4 1851 Broth J.N.R As the regular steamer is not in I send by the Clay and hope it will be allright I send you what I have on hand which is 72 1/2 oz making 1160 Dolz I send a small memorandum you did not leave the a/c of goods that came up or send any and we have need a lot of Potatoe that I did not know of this came up on sunday in when you did you did not speak of them and I wondered at if all is well and trade is fare. Colect the fill from old welten if you can get aney thing from him that we can make in with more at present Your ever P.I.Brown 36 sacks potatoes yesterday came to him call on the Clerk of the Clay for your package P.I.B

Dear broth G.M.R.

I rec'd yours this morning all right and we recd the sweet Potatas they were rather hard stock but we let them slide good and this is a demand the nuts legento[?] moove our Island potatas are mostly gon we can get them hear at 5 1/4 I think from Charley. I sent you the remitence yesterday by the H.T. Clay I supose it came to hand and to daay I send you what I have in hand which is 1945 I think without the bags look out for no 1 and I will nothing new or particular. send us a few more tins of soda crackers 12 lb cans and if you can get good sweet potatas to earn less thn 7 1/4 they will do nothing more at present I sent my letter yesterday by Sprague send on the oysters and a few more raisins and a few more Chiles beans chicken sardines, Pickles in small kegs. More bottled ale will go as we have sold this to day look over yesterdays memorandum

Ale and porter came as last or in cases would be better

As the Goliah hasnot yet made his appearance we are without your Comunication. yesterday and I have to remit my dust and letters the H.T. Clay as I did day before yesterday things are as usial with us trade is fair but not as good a yesterday I sent you memorandum yesterday our barley is all gon in sell it at 8 1/4 if you can get any that will make money at 8 it will do as their is a call, the can goods slow. thier is nothing that I can think of that we want but what you know of without is is a few more good hams finer carves [?] if you can get them so, the nuts begin to go out of the way they are more than half gon. the Eagle has comenced to deliver and I have engaged so rage[?] on the brig Cresent at about 1.00 per cask per it looks in fine order I send you today what I have on hand which is only $1022 as I have paid my rent today and yesterday I sent you 1944 I think you

Recd Sacramento City Cal Apl 12,1837 from J.N.Ryerson a bill of ladingfor Sixteen casks of butter shiped on board the Faney Major for Sacramento City. weighing twenty three hundred and fifty seven 1/2 pounds. which is sold to C.V.Holbrook R.O.Selfridge Morgan Miller and C.K.Stoutenborough at fifty cents per pound amounting to Eleven hundred & seventy eight 75/100 Dollars, and the fraight on the same to be paid from the proseads and the ballence of the proseads to be forwarded to John N Ryerson & Peter I Brown Paterson N.J. Charles K Stoutenborough Amt of Butter $1178.75 fraight in full of lading 342.30 $836.45
