Left Berkeley on Pacific Limited. Twenty eight of the fourty two. Had a wonderful send off. Our private car was loaded down with flowers, cigars, cigarettes, etc. Picked up Boutz and Fox at Sacramento. Used empty baggage car in front of us as a gymnasium. Picked up Foster at Auburn. Stoped ten minutes to view Blue Canyon & American River 1500+ ft. below. Fine time snowballing at Blue Canyon.

go to Paris with him, instead of going straight to Issoudun. I felt a little leary, but we arrived at the station about ten minutes before the Paris train left. I felt pretty sore, and disgusted, and so when I saw the old Paris express standing there I couldn’t withstand the temptation. So we got the tickets and asked some of the boys to look after our baggage for us. We landed in Paris at 8 P.M. and went to the Continental Hotel. Paris is the same old Paris as when I left it sixth months ago. When we were pulling into the city I was as excited as if I were pulling into Berkeley.

outclassed in every way but dress. I will admit that the girls here know how to dress. I also have an overcoat which comes in very handy over here.

I think I will drop a line to Louie and take a chance on it getting to him. I will address it to camp Lewis and maybe he will get it.

If you can get a Gazette with the names of the fellows from Berkeley that have gone to American Lake I wish you would send it. There are six or seven fellows from Berkeley in my Co and I guess they would all be glad to read it. Chas would know one of them his name is Archie

the same old Paris as when I left it six months ago. When we were pulling into the city my heart beat like as if were pulling in Berkeley instead of a city where I knew no one, as all my friends have left. We washed up at the hotel and then went to the Casino de Paris and saw a good show, and drank much champaign, and had a wonderful time.

Went to the American Express and went through my trunk getting the clothes that I have wanted ever since I left Paris.

On the way from the hotel to the station I lost my pocket book with a $20.00 bill and 100 francs in it besides my commission and active orders, and orders for me to Issoudun. Some luck! Left Paris at 10:03 and arrived at Issoudun 1:57. Passed by a big train wreck where 26 persons were killed and over 100 ingured. About six coaches

Dear Bogoo (spelling?)! --

Pardon me for not writing before but I have been on the sick list for 3 weeks. I saw your folks at the boathouse Sunday & your father gave me your address. The male population of college is getting smaller. I got a very nice letter from Wendall Hauch a short time ago. He is in northern Italy & seems to enjoy his work very much. Do you know George Meyer from Alameda. He is in the training camp at Linda Vista. He was a in my class at Cal.

You will will interested perhaps in knowing that I have left the great unknown & am [now - crossed out] to be after initiation Thursday a Sigma Nu. War produces great changes. Anything might happen. I am living in Berkeley, California for a while until I get O.K. again. So far I enjoy very much. I hope I get the part of college life that we lost before. That is the only reason I joined, so as to complete my college education.
